A comprehensive program from Applied Biosystems with a very nice interface for viewing .ab1 files on PCs running Win2000/XP.
- Finch TV
A simple program with a very nice interface for viewing .ab1 files on both PC and Mac OSX.
- 4Peaks
An excellent program for viewing .ab1 files if you're running Mac OSX.
- EditView
A simple program for viewing .ab1 files on the Mac.
- Chromas
A simple program for viewing .ab1 files on PC.
- Sequencher Demo
An excellent program for larger projects involving multiple alignments. The demo has limitations in that it does not let you print or save.
- BioEdit
PC freeware packed with features to work with DNA, RNA and proteins. It allows multiple alignments and online database searches (eg BLAST).
- StuffIt - Mac OSX, StuffIt - Mac OS9 or StuffIt - PC
Freeware for both PC and Mac that lets you expand a variety of archived files - including the files you download from our results retrieval section! Please note : This program is free if you wish to expand your files. If you wish to use it for compression, you must purchase the product.
- PC to Mac Conversion Utility
Mac users will need to use this utility to convert .ab1 files in order to view them.
